Water Features

Water features are a great way to make your backyard into an oasis.  In our city environments like Victoria and Vancouver, traffic and urban noises can be masked by the sound of running water.  There are so many variations-from a very simple container fountain to something much more complex.

Check out these images to give you some inspiration!

WATERFALLS

If you have a larger garden or deck you have more flexibility for design details. It can really be an extension of your own personal aesthetic. You could have a cottagey, floral garden and add a fountain with lots of detail or you could have a garden full of grasses and low maintenance plants that lends itself more to an architectural, simple design.

A small waterfall can easily be created by using a vessel such as this one. Image: Pinterest

BUBBLING WATER

Sometimes a water feature doesn’t have to include a pond. This beautiful bubbling water feature on stone creates an interesting layered focal point. Image: Grace Design Associates

ARCHITECTURAL

Using water features with larger architectural elements will create visual impact in any garden. This feature ticks many boxes - the ribbons of water sparkle in the sun, they create a lovely sound and is also low maintenance.
